Vassar First Year Schedule of Events 2015-2016

Beginning with New Student Orientation, the Vassar First Year is meant to introduce new students to Vassar in both academic and co-curricular contexts.

Considered the first event of Vassar First Year, the first few days at Vassar are intended to familiarize students with some important aspects of college life. Coordinated by the Dean of Freshmen and Dean of Students Offices

Guantánamo Diary: A Campus Reading

Faculty, administrators, and students will read excerpts from this year's Common Reading.  Sponsored by the Freshmen Seminar Course and Vassar First Year

Vassar Devils at the Alumnae House

Fall Convocation

Fall Convocation is the culmination of the New Student Orientation Program and the official beginning of the academic year. Convocation address by Bert Lott, Professor of Greek/Roman Studies

First Year LGBTQQIA Dinners

Tuesdays (dinner will not be held, during the break, on October 13)

Campus Life LGBTQ Center, Main 213
The Campus Life LGBTQ Center hosts free dinners for the first year LGBTQQIA students and strong allies every Tuesday during first semester. Join us for good food, a relaxing atmosphere, interesting discussions and community-building activities with other lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, questioning, intersex, asexual and ally first year students.

VC Dog Day

A gathering for and by first year students, featuring fifteen 3-minute reflections on the achievements and challenges of the freshmen year.
